GCSE and GCE Maths Grade Boundaries

GCSE Maths Grade Boundaries:

Having analysed grade boundaries, these are the grade boundaries I recommend to teachers and students. These can be used as threshold for in class assessments.

Interesting points before deciding whether a student should sit Higher or Foundation:

  • Students are expected to score full marks on all Grade 3-5 questions of Higher papers to score 33%, which is equivalent to a Grade 5.
  • Students are expected to score full marks on all Grade 1-4 questions of Foundation papers to score 70%, which is equivalent to a Grade 5.
  • Therefore if you have a Y11 class who cannot access Grade 5 topics, it would be wiser for them to sit Foundation.
  • It is better to motivate and stretch students so by the time they reach Y11 they can access Grade 5 topics and therefore wiser to sit Higher.

A level Maths Grade Boundaries:

Note:

  • Marks achieved in the AS exams are not carried over nor does it have any bearing on the actual A level grade.
